Kyle Ginnaty
College I
St. John Vianney Seminary
My name is Kyle Ginnaty. I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska to Matthew and Erin Ginnaty. Growing up in a military family, I spent my childhood moving from Air Force base to Air Force base. I have been able to call seven different places home at one time or another, including Alaska, Illinois, South Carolina, Colorado, Alabama, and the Azores. A few years ago, the Air Force stationed my father at Offutt Air Force Base. Since then I have happily called Bellevue, Nebraska my home city. I am a graduate of Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School. I have one younger brother, Ian, who is currently attending Gross.
After moving to the Omaha area, my family started attending St. Bernadette Parish. St. Bernadette has a beautiful, vibrant community and I have always felt at home there. The pastor, Fr. Alfred Salanitro, has been a constant guide for me during this time of discernment. He has shown me how fulfilling a vocation to the priesthood can be. The parishioners at St. Bernadette have also provided me with their prayers and goodwill. I am ever grateful for their support.
I feel God has always called me to the priesthood. I believe He created me to be a leader for His everlasting Church. Of course, I never discerned the call until later in my life. During the summer before my sophomore year of high school, my attention turned from studying medicine to studying theology. Since then, I have seen the priesthood as the primary vocation in my life. People like my parents, my brother, my friends, Fr. Salanitro, and Fr. Steve Emanuel have been there for me since the beginning, showing me the way to the vocation I believe God has lovingly called me to live out. Without their prayers and loving guidance, I would not be where I am today.
I am looking forward to starting life at Saint John Vianney College Seminary. While there, I hope to understand further God's roll for me on Earth and to experience His love for me in new and profound ways. I look forward to forging lifelong friendships with my fellow seminarians.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, writing, and playing the guitar. I plan ontaking guitar lessons while at Saint John Vianney. I aspire to one day become a published author.
I pray God the Almighty Father will continue to call me towards leadership in His Church in the form of diaconate priesthood. If you fellyou are being call to discern a vocation to the priesthood, do not be afraid. I encourage you to talk to your pastor or to get a hold of the vocations director. Take time every day to pray, asking God to guide you towards your Earthly purpose. Remember, God will be there for you no matter what obstacles you may be facing. Trust in Him always.
