I am Jacob Stein from St. Columbkille Parish in Papillion, Nebraska. My Pastor is Father Damian Zuerlein and my associate Pastor is Father Damien Wee. The desire to enter seminary came quite early in my life. Seeing a man, as a priest, completely lay down his life for the children of God brought me to the realization that the Lord could be calling me to live a life devoted to sacrificing myself for the sake of the souls of my brothers and sisters in Christ. I encourage young men to surround themselves with good and holy Catholic Priests when they are trying to discern the Priesthood. Learn to love all who come into your life. Also, know that seminary is not a contract to the Priesthood but a place where men come to understand themselves more as God sees them. The seminary forms men as, “Men in Christ, Men of the Church, Men for others” (The motto of Saint John Vianney College Seminary). Do not be afraid as Pope John Paul II would say! No time in seminary is wasted. Whatever your vocation is that the Lord is calling you to, the seminary will form you into a man who can fully live out a devout life to serve God.
