Anthony Kote-Witah
Theology I
Sacred Heart Seminary
Hello, my name is Anthony Kote-Witah from Ogoni, Nigeria. My call to the priesthood has been so significant in my life. A relative of mine who was not catholic even called me priest on the day I was born! "Before you were born, I dedicated you." (Jer. 1:4-5)
Shortly after high school the awareness of my call increased through several powerful encounters with Jesus Christ. One example I had of Jesus inviting me to ‘COME’ and follow him. "The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come.' Let the hearer say, Come." (Rev. 22:17). At first, it was struggle for me to begin with; however, I answered ‘YES’ to the invitation of my Bridegroom. My late uncle, Fr. Paul Oyor helped and encouraged me to the reality of my calling through the Trinity Charismatic prayer ministry that was formed by him. As a member of this ministry, I was involved in the out-reach ministering, in the Church with a compassionate heart and zeal to share God’s love with others.
In 1995, I fled persecution to a refugee camp in Benin Republic. In this desperate situation, I experience deeply the love, the power, and the strong call, ministering among sixteen pastors from different denominations. I officiated in various ministries such as the deliverance, praise and worship, and periodically children ministry. By the grace of God, I migrated along with others to the United States in 1997. The notion I had was now that I am here in the US I can settle down with my own agenda, but the Lord continue to knock on my door for His own special and everlasting agenda.
I am currently attending Creighton University to complete my philosophy credits.
