Prayer Shawl Ministry
On Wednesday, January 11, 9:00-11:00 a.m., join this wonderful group of knitters of all levels, creating prayer shawls for those in need at the Knowles Mercy Center, 2304 Campanile Road, Waterloo, Nebraska. This group meets every second Wednesday of the month from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
Information night on cyberspace, Facebook, Twitter and Tweeting
Do you wonder what your children are looking at when they are on the computer? Officer Joel Strominger from the Omaha Police Department will discuss issues regarding cyberspace, Facebook, Twitter, and Tweeting, as well as how to protect children from computer predators and cyber-bullying. This event will be held at St. Pius X / St. Leo School Cafeteria, 6905 Blondo Street, Wednesday, January 18, 2012, 7:00 p.m. There will be a question and answer period. Parking is available on the east side of the school building. Access the cafeteria through the east school doors. Keep the Heat On
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off to benefit the "Keep the Heat On" fund will be held Sunday, January 29, 2012, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Creighton Prep High School Sullivan Center, 7400 Western Avenue. The "Keep the Heat On" fund helps needy in our community who are threatened with evictions or utility shutoffs.
Enjoy chili prepared by 26 cook-off contenders. Also available: hot dogs, nachos, cold beer, soft drinks, and a selection of desserts including Village Inn pie. To-go orders are available. The family event features entertainment by Johnny Ray Gomez, plus raffle and silent auction items such as a Kindle Fire, Flat Screen TV and snow blower. Help raise funds for St. Peter Church and have a blast at the 3rd annual Catholic Trivia Night at the McMahon Hall, 723 S. 27th St., Omaha, Saturday, February 18, 2012 (February 25 is the snow date). The event begins at 6:00 p.m., ends by 10:00 p.m. and includes dinner, team trivia game, silent auction, and surprise gifts. World Meeting of Families
Join Pope Benedict XVI in Milan, Italy May 30–June 3, 2012 for the Seventh World Meeting of Families. Registration is open to everyone and must be completed by March 31, 2012. Applied music lessons
Private lessons in flute, guitar, harp, organ, piano, violin and voice are offered at the Saint Cecilia Institute for Sacred Liturgy, Music and the Arts in Omaha. Organ and piano are also offered in Norfolk at Immaculata Monastery. The spring 2012 session begins the week of January 16.
