Speaker Resources & Parenting Classes
On the days when your child has an ear infection, the dishwasher isn’t working and sibling rivalry is at a peak, it’s good to remember that God is at work in the ordinary events and tasks of parenting.
Since God is the author of all life, we have a co-parent in God who loves our children even more than we do and who has more patience with and love for them than we can muster on our best days! So we pray to God that our children will turn out right and then we learn as much as we can about how to be a good parent by reading, talking with other parents and taking part in classes or programs that give us better tools for effective parenting.
Remember that God is present with us in every act of love, every comforting word or action, in every moment of patience, fortitude or courage that parenting takes. God is even there to comfort, forgive and strengthen us when we have run out of love and patience!
General Parenting topics include ideas everything from getting your child to bed at night to developing good study habits and having family meetings. Refer to the topics list at right for more specific parenting topics.
“The profound and the ordinary moments of daily life---mealtimes, workdays, vacations, expressions of love and intimacy, household chores, caring for a sick child or elderly parent, and even conflicts over things like how to celebrate holidays, discipline children, or spend money---all are the threads from which you can weave a pattern of holiness”.
